Avoid! Terrible lasagna! Slimy noodles with thin sauce and hardly any cheese! AVOID this place!

Having just relocated here from Connecticut, I found this to be hands down one of "the best" Italian around! Pasta was al dente and the sauce tastes very good, considering the water down here is not that great! The pizza is great and also a professional staff! I was so happily surprised and will continue to come here and order take out and also I am spreading the word to my new friends I am making here!

The owner personally delivered my meal to me, I am in the hospital so for him to come up and have a conversation with me and deliver excellent food made me feel like I was a regular! I couldn't be happier with my service and food! I hope you enjoy the tip and thank you for such generosity and for making me feel like family!

Deep Dish pizza at Joey's...Mmmmm.....Joey's is the "diamond in the rough" in a highly populated community with scarce good food. Joey, God is ordering Ur pizza in heaven...

You can't throw a dead cat in Florida without hitting a pizza joint that everyone swears is "just like NY". I'm not from NY but I do love me some pizza and this place does it well for not too much money. Damn good garlic rolls, with real garlic too not some garlic salt type topping. Apparently they just opened a new location further south on 19. Check it out.

We get take-out from here at least a couple times a month - absolutely stellar food! Pizza is delicious and you can tell they take the time to do it right, from scratch . . . Same for the stromboli; also, the antipasto salad. Good prices, good quality. This bodes true for all restaurants, but given their space, especially here: don't eat-in on a Friday or Saturday if you're claustrophobic or have a problem with people being close to your food.

We are from California so some would say our opinion of Italian food isn't quite up to the standard of New Yorkers but good food is universal. I had the lasagna and husband had baked ziti. Both were very good and service excellent. At home our local Italian place makes his lasagna sausage with a little more kick but Joey ' s was still good. The garlic rolls sell themselves.

Now this is a place I could go to every week. It's small, so get there early. Excellent food and service. I'm a garlic lover and always ask for more. The tomato sauce is very good. I haven't been to the new Joey's, but I'm sure it's just as good. Prices are excellent.

Never been in the place, I order just about every week, Food is good, if they can just get the orders right. About 1 out 4 orders are wrong.

I've only had the pizza here, so my rating is based just on that. I've been here 3 or 4 times and the pizza is always consistent and excellent. I've never had "NY" pizza, so I can't comment on its authenticity, but everyone had always enjoyed it.

I moved down from NY almost 5 years ago and this is the best pizza and garlic knots I've ever had in Florida. Even better than some places I've eaten at in NY. Not sure what the owner does, but he does it right. I live in Dunedin and will drive up to Pasco just to go here. Completely worth it. They are always busy, and service is always great. Anybody who says otherwise is just delusional and has been sucked into the "papa johns and dominos is good crowd". Do yourself a favor and go here. You won't be disappointed.

Ate here for the first time, full house and yet the service was excellent. The food was very fresh and well prepared. The fresh baked rolls were delicious and unexpected. Wonderful family atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

Both stars for this rating are for the wings (THEY were great), and the very FULL glass of house wine that was only $4!!! As for the rest of the meal, unfortunately it deserved no more stars. Had the garlic rolls, not that buttery garlic taste they could or should be. Had 2 veal dishes - Saltimbocca and Sorrentino, veal was ok but not great. For the Sorrentino, the highlight was the prosciutto and the marinara. For the Saltimbocca, the highlight was the was the spinach and the prosciutto. They were large portions as reviews have stated; the side dish of pasta was unnecessary and wasted. Caesar salad had way too much dressing to be enjoyable and ALL of the croutons were stale. The service left a LOT to be desired... Waitress said she was new, but that does not explain why we received our salads way before the wings we ordered much earlier. Nor did it explain why she took our refill of tea to another table or didn't remove the dirty plates after multiple visits to the table. If we were ever to return, we might try the pizza since that seemed to be a lot of the take out.

Wow. In town with my girlfriend from Indiana, and one of the first things we hear about is Joey's. Lot's of talk of authentic Italian, made from scratch, quality food. Being in management in the culinary industry, I always question the opinions of anyone when it comes to food. I'm more of a "I'll be the judge of that" kind of guy. Went with my mother, step father, and girlfriend for dinner tonight. Walking in the place is hopping, usually a good sign. We find a table, and are quickly greeted by our server Denise. We order a dozen garlic knots and our drinks, and look over the menu. The menu is very extensive. It's a whole hell of a lot of food to be made from scratch, pardon my language. I really wanted to try some of their veal, cut and pounded thin in house. Instead, I decided to split a Stromboli with my step father. I was told before coming that I had to try some of the pizza or their Stromboli. The garlic knots arrived and we ordered our entrees. We got extra garlic butter and marinara sauce for dipping on the side. The garlic knots were phenomenal. Very similar to the dough of a biscuit, twisted and turned into perfection and topped with garlic butter and parmesan. The garlic butter has large chunks of garlic and parsley floating in it, and is full of flavor. The marinara certainly has an authentic taste, different than what I'm used to. Very good. You can get a dozen for $3.95! Not a moment too soon, our Stromboli's arrived. Rough estimate, you've got 2 feet by 4 inches of crispy dough wrapped around any topping you'd like(from their list of toppings). We got pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions, and mushrooms in ours. You'll also find mozzarella and parmesan holding it together. The sausage is made in house, and I'm sure the pepperoni is sliced in house. Again, garlic butter and marinara on the side is a winning combination. The Stromboli was cooked perfectly, light and airy on the inside, crispy on the outside. Sausage and pepperoni were good(I've had better) and the vegetables were, well, vegetables. No negativity intended, this Stromboli was fantastic! I couldn't finish it and will have some for lunch tomorrow. Service was great. Drinks were kept filled, and the food came out fast! We weren't bothered every few seconds, which would be a huge turn off. We fed a family of four for $24. The food was great, and we took some home with us. Hats off to the staff and the man behind it all, Mr. Joey. I was disappointed I didn't get to talk to him, he was out of town for the holidays. This place is going to make it, I guarantee it. From a manager's perspective, they're doing amazing things at an amazing price. I sure do hope they're profiting well. I'm going to try to come back for the veal before I leave next week, and I'll be back every time I return to the Tampa area! Also, real quick.. I've never written a review this positive before. I'm used to bashing places for their shortcomings. When I say well done, I really mean it. Well done guys!

My Fed -Ex guy slipped me a menu when delivering my package and told me his buddy just opened up this restaurant. My husband and I ordered take out one weekend and we were both blown away! It was by far the best Italian food we've ever eaten since moving from NYC to Florida 11 years ago! Since we've told all our neighbor's and friends about it and they order from there. We took our NY Italian buddy there for his birthday/retirement dinner and he LOVED it! It's casual, but cozy and warm feeling. The service was great and our waiter was very witty and funny. As usual the food was knock your socks off amazing and we left with leftovers. Large portions and very reasonable prices, as well as great quality ingredients! This weekend we are going back and taking more friends with us! My mouth is watering just writing this review! Check it out!! Soooooooo Good!

OVER Charging.. sister is gluten free. Needed to get chicken dish with veggies instead of salad/pasta and was told EXTRA charge. What???.. Lectured on the high cost of veggies. We had already ordered 2 pizzas and this was just an additional order. Service like this will keep people away. Owner not interested in going the extra mile for their customer. Poor attitude.

Joey's is a new restaurant that opens a couple months ago. My wife and I went for the first time yesterday. We both had the eggplant parmigiana. It came with a salad or soup and garlic rolls. The eggplant was very good. we both had the Cesar salad with our meal. It was also very good. The garlic rolls were best garlic rolls around. Lots of fresh garlic and butter. Saw pizzas going to other tables and they looked good. I will have to try the pizza next time. For being new, the place was busy. Nice decor inside. Overall a good place to dine. Nice staff too.

Not a fancy sit down restaurant... instead it is all about highest quality NYC-style Italian. As a native New Yorker I would put it up against the best in the 5 boroughs. Joey is from Queens & has obviously remembered & reproduced the cuisine of his youth.

Every one says they have New York Pizza, but folks this is as close was it gets!!!! I got to meet the owner and he is a very interesting man. Did you know, he designed and did the floors at both locations. I only mention it because the floors are amazing!!!! Just like the food!!!!! I have to say that the pizza is just above anything else you will get around here!!!! I'm not lying. I am sad since I have moved out of the area. I can guarantee you every time I come into town this is where you will find me.

Ist visit was nice but being generous with a 3 on my 2nd visit, we tried one of their pizzas. The waitress took our order, and never told us was late getting to us, or follow up on seeing if everything was ok.Had to ask several times for water and lemons. Pizza was ok, but xtras were pricy, and didn't offer full pizza selections. Would return to dine.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.
